This week our focus in The Story is on the book of Ruth. The text in The Story is identical to the actual Bible book so a reading of the book of Ruth will not get you “extra credit”. However, you might want to read Judges 17-21 to see the stark contrast between this account of the “time of the Judges” and the account we have in the book of Ruth. This wonderfully told story assured God’s people that God had not forgotten his people or his promise. If the final chapters of Judges portrays life at its worst, Ruth tells a story of God’s hand of grace over a family that experienced profound emptiness but through acts of kindness learned from God’s Word, they discover a fullness that brings them new life.
