About The Story
Immanuel Christian Reformed Church will launch a 31 week worship and discipleship series called The Story, on Sunday morning, September 7, 2014. Immanuel is located at 1900 S Taft Hill Rd. in Fort Collins, Colorado. Summer Sunday Worship begins at 9:30 am, changing to 10:30 am on Sunday, September 7.
The Story is an abridged Bible, arranging selected texts from the New International version in chronological sequence. There are no verse references in this version of the Bible. The scripture text is woven together with transition summaries written to connect the message of the Bible so that it reads like a seamless story.
For persons unfamiliar with the Bible, a reading of The Story can reduce the intimidation that often comes when attempting to read the entire Bible from cover to cover. For persons more familiar with the Bible, this arrangement of the Bible story can clearly show the way the whole Bible fits together in a single grand narrative. Experiencing the story of the Bible this way can assist anyone in better understanding and appreciating the greatest story ever told.
The Story will also be used in the discipleship ministry of Immanuel Church. Age appropriate curriculum will be used by all age groups in Sunday School Classes or Small Group meetings to coincide with the weekly Sunday messages presented by Pastor John Terpstra.
Age appropriate versions of the Bible have also been written for children. Three versions are available: The Story for Little Ones (Pre-School), The Story for Children (early elementary) and The Story for Kids (later elementary). A special version of The Story for Teens will also be used at Immanuel. The text of this version is the same as The Story book used by adults.
